Electric Blue

Electric Blue is a photographic piece that explores the interplay between colour, light, and emotion. Through the use of blue and red lighting, this piece creates a dynamic contrast and depth that draws the viewer in. This work was part of my ‘Hybrid’ project, which was a collaboration between myself and my partner. For me, the project was an opportunity to explore ‘the idea of family’, while my partner was interested in ‘working with light’. Together, we experimented with different lighting techniques and ultimately created this striking image.

Overview

The use of blue and red lighting in Electric Blue was a deliberate choice, as these colours are often associated with opposing emotions. Blue represents calmness and serenity, while red is associated with passion and intensity. By combining these colours, I aimed to capture the complexity and nuance of family relationships. The resulting image is both beautiful and thought-provoking, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experiences with family and emotion.

Blue + Red

Electric Blue was one of the experimental pieces from our 'Hybrid' project, which was a culmination of our extensive range of experimentation. We explored various techniques such as projectors, acetate, flashlights, and studio lighting, to name a few. We also worked with different models and props to convey our message effectively. The project was a great opportunity to push the boundaries of our artistic capabilities and to see what we could create. Electric Blue, with its striking interplay between blue and red lighting, was just one of the many pieces that resulted from this collaborative and experimental process.

Overall, "Electric Blue" is a testament to the power of collaboration and experimentation in art. By combining our unique interests and perspectives, my partner and I were able to create a work that speaks to our shared passion for creativity and exploration.
